Welcome to BECTU - your trade union
A new recognition agreement signed with ntl offers a new opportunity to ntl associates to take advantage of the range of services available from BECTU. Now Networks Division associates can use BECTU to secure the representation they need to get the most out of their working relationship with ntl.
BECTU, your union -
BECTU has a long established relationship with ntl. We understand the transmission business and the issues that affect you as a worker in that business. The union's members have benefited from positive relations with ntl and its predecessors going back many years; we intend to put that experience to good use in representing your future interests as ntl continues to expand.
BECTU's influence in transmission is marked not only by our valued relationship with ntl but with other transmission service providers too. But transmission represents just one part of the union's operations. BECTU represents staff throughout the cultural sector: in the BBC, the ITV companies, across the film industry and independent production and in theatres, cinema and leisure. With more than 25,000 members BECTU is the industry trade union.
What can we do for you?
The union will represent your interests on the issues that matter to you. These include all-important pay and conditions of service; health and safety and training. Annual talks on these issues show how the union operates from a collective standpoint. Equally vital however, is the service the union provides to individual members. When you have a problem at work (whether disciplinary or grievance ) BECTU provides the best possible help - personal representation with legal back-up when necessary. Our legal service can also extend to members of your family too. Your national official, David Beevers, based at head office is a regular visitor to ntl sites and is supported by a team of local officials who are themselves ntl associates.
ntl and BECTU working together
This new recognition agreement now offers the same rights of representation available to associates in Broadcast and Radio Comms to associates across the Networks Division. The agreement has the full support of ntl management.
The joint aim of ntl and BECTU is to ensure the continued growth and success of the business which in turn ensures the job security of members. This co-operation will be encouraged by new liaison facilities which guarantee full consultation on change in a climate where the object is to resolve issues in the interests of everyone concerned.
ntl wants to know what its associates are thinking; only BECTU can ensure that your views are represented and at the right level. BECTU invites you to make the most of this new opportunity by joining us today.
