Welcome for new Olympic funds

BECTU has welcomed yesterday’s announcement that new funds are to be allocated to the build of the Olympics 2012 media centre.

Commenting on Wednesday’s statement, BECTU General Secretary, Gerry Morrissey said: “BECTU welcomes the government’s announcement.

“Additional funds for the broadcast and media centre will now allow a legacy that will help employment in East London long after 2012.”

The TUC also welcomed the news.

TUC General Secretary, Brendan Barber, said: "The London 2012 media centre is exactly the kind of ambitious project that the government should be funding.

"It will provide high quality jobs for the creative industries, a fast-growing sector that could help the UK economy emerge from recession.”
