Remembering RMT’s Jimmy Knapp

A piano recital is to be held in London next month to raise funds for the Jimmy Knapp Cancer Fund.

Jimmy Knapp was one of the best known trade union figures of his generation. He was general secretary of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union until his death from cancer in 2001.

Since then his wife, Eva, has dedicated herself to the Jimmy Knapp Cancer Fund, a charity set up in his memory to raise funds for all aspects of the illness, including research, support and hospices.

At at the end of 2008, the fund had raised more than £500,000.

As part of the continuing efforts to raise funds, there will be a piano recital by Marina Primachenko on 27 March at The Regent Hall, 275 Oxford Street, London, W1C 2DJ. The performance will start at 19.30 hours.
