Working Time Regs

Dispute working time information

Recommended wording for BBC Resources members seeking working time information has been issued.

Members taking part in industrial action, that has following the collapse of talks on the Working Time Regulations in BBC Resources, are being asked to request information from their local management on individual working time since October 1998.

The recommended wording to request this information is provided in two forms:

  • Download the memo (14K) in Microsoft Word for Windows 6/95 format.

  • Copy and past the text below into email.

I am writing to request information relating to my working time and any applicable compensatory rest under the Working Time Regulations.

Since the introduction of the Regulations on 1 October 1998, I believe I may have been accruing compensatory rest. The BBC has given an undertaking to the unions that all working time would be recorded and that, where appropriate, compensatory rest would be scheduled.

I would therefore be grateful, in relation to the Working Time Regulations, if the following could be confirmed in writing:

1. Copies of the records of my working time which the BBC is required to keep (copies of my time sheets are not sufficient).

2. On which dates since 1 October 1998 I have accrued compensatory rest?

3. On which dates any compensatory rest may have been scheduled to me?

4. I have not agreed to extend the reference period beyond 17 weeks, so can you confirm whether my average working hours have exceeded 48 hours per week over any 17 week period since 1 October 1998?
