New deal at Opera House
Royal Opera House BECTU members have overwhelmingly voted in favour of a deal following negotiations concerning the future of the House.
The deal guarantees all Royal Opera House (ROH) staff a minimum of:
- 6 weeks at 100% and the remaining weeks at 50% of basic pay during the 1999 ROH closure (January - September)
- For the season September 1999 to August 2000 all staff will be employed for nine months and for the remaining 3 months, 40% of the technical staff are laid off on 50% retainers
- In April 1999 all BECTU grades will receive an increase of 2.5%
- In April 2000 all BECTU grades will receive an increase of 2.5%
- The proposed out-sourcing of the Making departments, Marketing and Finance departments has been withdrawn
- An Independent Job Evaluation exercise will commence when the new Opera House opens in September 1999
