3.5% theatre pay increase

83% of regional theatre members in a ballot have voted to accept a 3.5% pay increase.

TMA pay 2005-2006

  • 3.5% increase in minimum rates of pay
  • 3.2% increase in ancillary rates
  • 0.5% increase in employers' pension contributions
  • Holiday entitlement increased to 4 weeks 2 days after three years
The increase also provides a 3.2% increase in all ancillary rates and a new clause covering recordings.

The increase, agreed with the TMA (Theatrical Management Association), includes the minimum terms and conditions of non-performing staff covering most private theatres outside London.

They amend the BECTU/TMA Agreement, which also covers various polices, codes of practice and trade union facilities, and is normally negotiated annually.

BECTU National Official Willy Donaghy commented: "I would like to remind members in TMA theatres that members at many theatres negotiate rates of pay in excess of the minima as the agreement states that the minimum rates should not often apply.

"This possibility is open to members in every TMA theatre and the best way to increase your chances of success is to recruit all your colleagues into the union so you can campaign for bigger improvements together."
