Cineworld pay talks start

Negotiations have opened on the 2007 pay claim covering BECTU members in the Cineworld cinema chain.

Talks started at a meeting on 21 August between union representatives and Cineworld management.

Cineworld Sub-Divisional Committee (SDC) Chair Mick Corfield said: "This is only the opening meeting with the company regarding this year's pay round.

"The meeting went well and the company have taken our thoughts on board.

"When we have some more information we will contact our members but may I reassure our members that this is the only first meeting and although the negotiation team gave a good presentation, which was well received, we will have to be patient.

"The company will be in touch as soon as possible with their thoughts".
