BBC break-up rally
A rally to oppose further break-up of the BBC is to be held in West London on 17 February.
With the UK General Election only weeks away, the BBC management continue to come up with plans that would break-up the BBC even further.
After the sell-off of BBC Transmission, the next step is to make the Resources Directorate a wholly owned subsidiary from 1 April. A wholly owned subsidiary is a prelude to full privatisation and an irreversible step in the break-up of the BBC.
BECTU believes an incoming Government would want to look at the BBC, and anything pushed through as this Parliament comes to an end should be resisted.
The rally will be held on 17 February 1997 at 1315 at the Village Hall, Wood Lane, London W12.
