Ballot preparations suspended

Following informal discussions with BBC management a further meeting about the proposed cuts in London TV Studio Operations has been agreed.

It has also been agreed that:

  • BECTU will suspend preparations to issue formal industrial action ballot papers to oppose the management proposals.
  • Management will suspend the selection of Studio Operations staff for compulsory redundancy using the criteria of utilisation.
The meeting will be held in a further attempt to find an agreed way forward concerning the management proposals to cut back 13% of posts in TSPR Studio Operations involving the enforced redundancy of 16 staff.

BECTU, as always, wishes to resolve this issue by negotiation, and hopefully agreement.

However, it has been made clear that an industrial action ballot will be run unless the questions of enforced redundancies, utilisation selection criteria and the level of post closures are resolved to the satisfaction of BECTU members.
