Competencies in BBC Resources

BECTU members in BBC Resources are being instructed not to take part in meetings where job competencies are being discussed.

This follows attempts to introduce job competencies as part of the appraisal process in BBC London TV studios (TSPR).

There are potentially very serious consequences for any such change to the appraisal process but the dangers are heightened by the fact there has been no consultation with BECTU at national level in Resources.

This matter was discussed at the last BBC Division and it was decided to issue an instruction to all BECTU branches in BBC Resources:

No BECTU member should take part in any meetings with the BBC where competencies are being discussed. BECTU has requested a national level meeting with Resources and after that meeting has taken place, we will review the situation.
Any queries on this matter should be directed to Luke Crawley at BECTU Head Office.
