BBC 1999 pay claim

The unions' BBC claim for 1999 includes a substantial salary increase and no compulsory redundancies for the next two years.

The formal claim has now been submitted to BBC management on behalf of the BBC unions, BECTU, NUJ and AEEU. The main elements of the claim are:

  • A substantial percentage salary increase above the rate of inflation subject to £1000 minimum per year.

  • No compulsory redundancies for the next two years.

  • Conditions of Service and collective bargaining in BBC Resources continue to be linked to the rest of the Corporation.

  • Re-introduction of weekend and bank holiday payments, along with a review of basic hours undertaken by staff working unsociable patterns.

  • Improvements in childcare provision.

  • Extension of the current preferential pension discount scheme for redundant staff.
