Radio freelance open meeting
BECTU and the NUJ have organised a meeting for radio freelances following a unilateral change in BBC contracts.
The changes, imposed by the BBC on 20 February, transfer copyright, and therefore all rights to repeat fees and sales, from the freelance to the BBC.
Those affected are freelance presenters, producers and journalists.
The unions are seeking an urgent meeting with the BBC and are demanding immediate withdrawal of the new contract clauses. Radio freelances presented with the new contracts are being advised by the unions to simply cross out and initial the new clauses.
The meeting, to which all radio freelances are invited, will be held at 1930 on 23 April 1997 at BECTU Head Office.
