Aardman job cuts

Production problems at animation company Aardman could lead up to 100 redundancies.

Storyline problems with the Aardman/Dreamworks production "The Tortoise and the Hare" have opened up the prospect of large-scale redundancies at the Bristol-based animation company.

Up to 100 jobs may be at threat, and formal consultation has now started. BECTU has a good working relationship with the company, but has not had a formal recognition agreement.

The union is now seeking recognition by Aardman so as to ensure that both staff and freelances are professionally represented at this difficult time.
