Cash boost for freelance training

Europe is helping out with freelance training in the UK.

London-based freelancers are being offered discounts of 80% on selected training courses by Skillset.

Thanks to funding of £900,000 from the European Social Fund, and the Pan-London Learning & Skills Council, 700 industry freelancers can claim cheap rates on courses in animation, broadcast, and interactive media.

To qualify, applicants must be based in London, and and have demonstrable professional experience of working in the broadcast, film, video, interactive media, computer games, or animation industry.

Courses being offered with the 80% discount include editing, camera, VFX fundamentals, and the business and technical aspects of digital animation.

Skillset has arranged for four training providers to offer the subsidised courses, and full details of eligibility or syllabus can be obtained from them:
