Discount on new freelance website

BECTU members are being offered a 20% discount on subscriptions to a new website from trade magazine Broadcast.

The site, www.broadcastfreelancer.com will enable industry freelancers to hunt for jobs via an online website.

Operators of the site promise that users will be able to:

• Search and apply for the best TV jobs
• Be found by the biggest and best employers
• Get up-to-the-minute freelance news
• Access a library of invaluable freelance resources
• Read exclusive behind-the-scenes reports on major UK productions

To build a user base, a free three-month trial is being offered, after which subscription payments will apply. In a special offer negotiated with BECTU, union members will receive a 20% discount when they reach the end of the free trial.

The paid database service complements BECTU's own freelance register www.crewbus.org.uk which allows members of the union to post their details and credits on a web-based database.
