1998 Manchester Conference

Manchester will be the venue for BECTU's Annual Conference, due to be held 16 May 1998.

The 1998 conference will be held at UMIST - the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.

Branch delegates from all parts of the union will be attending the policy making conference, which will discuss BECTU's National Executive Committee (NEC) report to conference. Delegates will also debate motions tabled by the union's Branches.

The conference Standing Orders Committee is currently discussing the detail of the timetable, and it is likely Branches will be invited to submit motions for consideration by the Conference in mid-November.

UMIST forms part of the biggest higher eduction campus in Europe in the northern UK city of Manchester. The Conference itself will be housed in one of UMIST's conference hall facilities.

Further details of Conference arrangements are expected to be mailed to BECTU Branches in November.
