General Secretary election announced

The BECTU General Secretary election will take place from March until May 1998, the union's National Executive Committee (NEC) has decided.

The NEC agreed the timetable and ground rules for the election at it's meeting last Sunday (9 November).

BECTU branches will be able to nominate candidates for the election using the form that will be attached to the Branch Circular to be issued shortly.

The deadline for nominations will be 9 February 1998, with the election itself running from 2 March to 5 May 1998.
