NEC ballots in two Divisions

Ballots are to be held in the BECTU London Production and Regional Production Divisions following the closing date for nominations of candidates for the union's NEC election.

No ballots are required in the Arts and Entertainment, BBC or Laboratories Divisions, where the number of candidates equalled the number of NEC (National Executive Committee) places available in each of those Divisions. In the Independent Broadcasting Division, only one nomination was received for two places, and a by-election will be held to fill the vacancy.

In the London Production and Regional Production Divisions, the number of nominations exceeded the number of places available for the 1998-2000 NEC term of office, and therefore ballots of memberships of these two Divisions are required.

The candidates elected will assume office at the meeting of the NEC scheduled for 31 May 1998.
