National Official contract

BECTU's National Official based in Birmingham UK is on maternity leave, and the union is looking for someone to cover for her on a fixed-term contract basis.

The fixed-term contract will be until the end of 1999.

Candidates should have proven commitment to trade unionism and equal opportunities, or previous experience of human resources management.

The postholder will deal with BECTU members (both freelance and permanently employed), employers, training and other bodies relevant to members' interests in the UK Midlands and beyond.

Though the post is based in BECTU's Birmingham office, considerable travel will be entailed. The office uses Microsoft Office 97 and there is secretarial support. The salary is £25179 (pro rata).
