History Project grant

BECTU's History Project has been awarded a £3500 grant to help towards the enormous task of transcribing hundreds of audio tapes.

The grant, from the Kraszna Krausz Foundation, which give financial support for photography and moving image projects, is to help transcribing interviews which constitute an oral history of the British film and television industry.

The value of these interviews, which now total 469, has been recognised by the British Film Institute which has agreed to act as a repository.

The History Project now routinely offers researchers, television and radio producers, authors, and biographers the opportunity to study the recordings.
