24/7 work survey

An online survey of UK work related issues is to be carried out in early September.

The survey, to be found at www.24-7survey.co.uk, will open on 3 September 2001.

The survey has questions on over-working, work-related ill health, the effects on family life of a poor work-life balance, and what can be done to improve the current situation.

The survey will be available for participation for one month from 3 September. Once the results are analysed, they will be freely available on request.

Last year's survey showed that almost two thirds of Britain's workers were being made ill by the way they worked. The symptoms suffered ranged from general fatigue and sleeplessness through to serious mental and physical breakdowns.

These findings had huge cost implications for industry where sickness absence has already been found to cost almost £500 per employee annually.

The survey is being run by worklifebalance.org in partnership with Keele University.
