November media careers day

BECTU is supporting the London Media Careers Information Day on 19 November.

The day is open to anyone wanting to find out about working in television, film, radio print and multimedia.

Over 35 exhibitors from across industry, education and training providers will be at the Information Day at Kensington Town Hall on Monday 19 November 2001 between 1100 and 1700.

Highlight will be the chance to take part in sessions with well known figures covering a broad range of subjects from breaking into broadcasting to commissioning ideas. Each session will feature a panel who will participate in question and answer sessions with the audience.

Presentations will also address issues such as gaining relevant work experience, becoming a researcher and working in radio.

Visitors to the careers stand can find out more about how to make contacts, networking ideas and practical advice to get their media career off to the best possible start.

The event is being sponsored by BECTU, BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Carlton, London Weekend Television, The Guardian, Capital Radio, Skillset, The London Institute, University of Westminster and the National Film and Television School.

Tickets are £3 in advance or £5 at the door. Tickets will be limited and subject to availability, so ordering in advance is advisable.

Advance orders must arrive no later than 14 November 2001 - more details are available at the London Media Careers Information Day website.
