Support for firefighters' rally

BECTU is backing a TUC call for trade unionists to join an FBU rally in London.

TUC General Secretary John Monks has urged every union to ensure maximum attendance at the rally, which will assemble at 1200 on Saturday 7 December at Cleopatra's Needle, Embankment London.

At around 1300 they will march through Central London to a rally in Hyde Park.

The call came after the TUC pledged full support for the nation's firefighters at the beginning of their first 8-day stoppage.

Unions will be making their own arrangements to transport members from outside London to the rally, and TUC regional secretaries around the country will be coordinating travel bookings to ensure that as many supporters as possible can attend.
