Bolton re-elected
Roger Bolton has been re-elected BECTU General Secretary.
Roger Bolton was the only candidate nominated by Branches in the union's General Secretary election, and was therefore returned to office unopposed.
Roger was nominated by a total of 69 Branches across all six Divisions of BECTU, representing over a third of the union's membership.
He was first elected General Secretary in 1993, and was re-elected in 1998. This is his last election before retirement in 2007.
At the same time 30 Branches in the London Production, Regional Production and Laboratories Divisions nominated Martin Spence as the only candidate for election to the position of Assistant General Secretary (AGS).
Martin too was declared elected unopposed. The AGS position became vacant at the end of last year when Marilyn Goodman retired early after a lengthy period of ill health.
Gerry Morrissey, the second of BECTU's two AGSs, will face re-election by members in the Arts and Entertainment, BBC and Independent Broadcasting Divisions in 2004.
