Experts defend film & TV archive

Film and TV archivists from around the world have rallied to the support of Britain's National Film & Television Archive.

The British Film Institute (BFI) which runs the Berkhamsted-based Archive is planning sweeping changes to its acquisition and preservation practices, with significant redundancies among BECTU members.

BECTU and Amicus, the two recognised unions, are working together to oppose the new policy, with the support of respected international archivists who believe that the BFI's policy will fatally undermine Britain's film and TV heritage.
