Union goes big at trade show
BECTU is planning a significant presence at the Broadcast Production show which starts tomorrow, June 1.
The event is the UK's biggest trade show for the film, TV and audio-visual industries, and runs from Wednesday 1st to Friday 3rd June.
This year the show has moved from its traditional Islington home to Earls Court, to make room for the growing number of exhibitors.
In addition to its regular stand, BECTU will also be running lunchtime workshops on Wednesday and Thursday in collaboration with Thompsons solicitors. BECTU Supervisory official Rob Newland and Thompsons solicitor Ann Rooney will tackle the dos and donts of employment law and contract law as it affects freelances.
A new web-based service for freelances, "Broadcast Freelancer", from the publishers of Broadcast magazine is due to be launched at the show. BECTU is working closely with Broadcast Freelancer and plans to maintain an active relationship.
