Last chance to book BME radio event

Move On Up Radio 2006 brochure cover

Only days are left for black and minority ethnic radio workers to register for October's Move On Up event.

Bookings for the one-day opportunity to talk about job prospects and programme ideas with leading industry figures are set to close on September 1.

The event, initiated by BECTU and supported by the UK's main broadcasters, is intended to bring together black/minority ethnic (BME) media workers and more than 70 executives from across the radio industry.

Find details of participating executives in the official brochure.

Attending the event on Friday 27 October will be representatives of: BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, Radio 5 Live, the World Service, the Asian Network, BBC London, Capital Radio, LBC, Choice FM, 1Xtra, Magic, Galaxy, plus Independent Radio News, brand new stations and independent production companies.

Move On Up in Radio has been organised by BECTU in partnership with the NUJ and the radio industry, and is funded primarily by the Equal Fund under the AudioVisual Industry Development Partnership led by Skillset and the UK Film Council.

Creative London and the London Development Agency have also given support to the event, which is being held at the TUC in Central London.

Anyone interested in applying, whether a union member or not, should download the online application form and return it to BECTU as soon as possible.
