Skillset work/life study

Skillset are carrying out a study exploring problems combining work and life outside the film and TV industry.

Skillset are looking to BECTU members to participate in this study.

A number of discussion groups will be held during the first week of October, each comprising women and men at different stages in their work and personal lives.

The purpose of the research is to better understand the issues confronting women and men in various scenarios, and to recommend solutions to help widen choice and facilitate balancing work with some areas of personal life. In order for this to be achieved, it is important that participants feel able to express these issues openly.

Skillset are interested to hear from the following people:

  • Female employees (contract of 365 days or more) working in the film or TV industry who have children under 16 years who worked in the film and TV industry before starting a family and who are available to participate in a discussion on 2 October 2006.
  • Women who since starting a family have not returned to work in the TV or film industry and now work in another sector or care for their children full-time who are available to participate in a discussion on 4 October 2006.
  • Men working in the film or TV industry who have children under 16 years who are available to participate in a discussion on 6 October 2006.

The discussions are scheduled to take place between 1100 and 1300, with refreshments provided beforehand and afterwards at Skillset's London offices in New Oxford Street, WC1A 1HB. To compensate for the time commitment all participants will receive £100 and travel costs will be reimbursed.

If members are interested in taking part please contact Catherine Godward directly at Skillset [email protected] or call her on 020 7520 5757.
