ULF project worker vacancy
BECTU has a vacancy for a part-time project worker recruiting and supporting Union Learning Reps in the North.
The positon will be headquartered at BECTU's Manchester office or, depending on circumstances, alternative locations in Lancashire or Yorkshire.
The post, which is funded by the Union Learning Fund, is for two days a week and is expected to run for three years (subject to continued external funding).
The successful applicant will be able to work flexibly in a range of activities including:
- recruiting and supporting Union Learning Reps in Yorkshire and Lancashire, particularly in ITV
- assisting negotiations with employers on learning agreements
- publicising BECTU's learning services
- liaising with providers of vocational training
He/she will have:
- a good grasp of the trade union learning agenda and how this links to organising members
- a willingness to work a reasonable number of unsocial hours
- teamworking abilities as well as individual initiative
- excellent communication skills
- IT literacy
