Members’ ballot in Labour contest

BECTU Political Fund contributors are to be balloted in the election for Labour's Deputy Leader.

Gordon Brown is the only candidate to succeed Tony Blair as Leader of the Labour Party - however the election campaign for Deputy Leader is under way, and BECTU's Political Fund contributors have a vote in that election.

BECTU is not endorsing any candidate in the Deputy Leader contest.

BECTU, and the other unions affiliated to the Labour Party, belong to the Trade Union and Labour Party Liaison Organisation (TULO).

On TULO's election page members can find out about the election, the hustings and how to ask questions to the candidates.

Individual candidates' pages provide:

  • A statement on why members should vote for them
  • Their biography
  • Their response to the UnionsTogether election survey
  • A UnionsTogether TV Interview
  • Their contact Details

BECTU believes members' role as trade union voters in this election is very important, and to make the most of their vote it is essential they are informed about the election process and who is running.
