Two day Women's Conference

This year's BECTU Annual Women's Conference is to be held over two days in November at London's Friends Meeting House.

Due to demand last year for a longer, more in depth conference, two days have been allowed for in 2007.

The conference is an opportunity for women members to:

  • Meet with other female BECTU members
  • Take part in short taster training sessions and workshops
  • Listen to and question speaker Lindsey German, author of 'Material Girls: Women, Men and Work'
  • Learn about safety at work, successful negotiating, communication skills and public speaking
  • Join in 'Reclaim the Night' on the Saturday evening
  • Relax and socialise together over two days instead of one
  • Share ideas on how women can become more involved in their workplace

There will be an opportunity to take part in the 'Reclaim the Night' [641k pdf] march on the evening of 24 November, when women reclaim the right to walk the streets at night safely and without fear.

BECTU would like to have a strong delegation of women keen to be involved in continuing the groundbreaking work over the last few years, and continue to build on this work for the future.

The conference, hosted by BECTUwomen and the Equality and Diversity Committee, is over the weekend of 24-25 November 2007 at the Friends Meeting House, Euston, London, NW1.

Anyone seriously interested in registering to take part in this motivational conference should contact Kate Elliott [email protected] at BECTU Head Office.
