Two weeks to NW Fair
Places on BECTU's North West Fair seminars and workshops, opening in two weeks time, are filling rapidly.
The Fair, running 8-9 November 2007 at Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry, is for everyone involved in TV, radio, film and the arts in the North West of England.
A range of workshops, seminars and exhibitors will be offered, centering on how to get the most out of your career and skills.
Recently confirmed for the Fair:
- BAFTA award-winning sound technician John Crumpton's seminar on risk assessment, the foundation of good health and safety practice.
- One-to-one career development sessions with Brian Barnes, who has 25 years' TV experience, provided by North West Vision and Media.
- Don Meyer, of pensions specialists Berkeley Burke, speaking on the importance of pensions - a must for freelancers.
The event kicks off on 8 November with a high-profile Q&A-style debate on Media City UK in Salford Quays, the BBC's proposed new base, and the opportunities and challenges this will bring for staff and freelancers.
All attendees on 9 November will receive £2 off the adult entrance fee, coutesy of MoSI, to the museum's popular Dr Who exhibition, which has now been extended until January 2008.
Pre-registration is essential as places are limited and seminars and workshops are filling up quickly - the event is open to both BECTU members and non-members.
