New recruitment drive at ntl:
BECTU is joining up new members in Cable & Wireless areas bought by ntl: last year.
The union's recognition agreement with ntl: has now been extended to cover Associates working in the former Networks area of the Technology Group - part of the Consumerco business previously owned by C&W.
David Beevers, BECTU's National Officer responsible for ntl: said: "The extension to our current agreement with ntl: means that BECTU now represents all Associates company-wide in the former Networks area of the Technology Group, as well as Broadcast.
"I very much look forward to meeting new members from Consumerco as our membership grows."
BECTU is planning a programme of site visits over the coming weeks when David Beevers will be available to talk to Associates.
Staff working for ntl: areas covered by the new recognition agreement have been sent letters from BECTU inviting them to consider joining the union.

BECTU, The Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph Theatre Union has been recognised in the legacy areas of ntl: and its predecessor organisation the IBA since the early 1950s. In the spring of last year, our recognition agreement was extended to cover all Associates working in the Networks Division, now part of the Technology Group. In addition we also represent members in Broadcast.
Our agreement has been extended again, this time to cover Associates working in the former CoCo business acquired from Cable and Wireless and covers people in the networks area of the Technology Group including Planning and Civils.
