ITV unions strengthen alliance

Unions representing ITV members are to form a new group to met the challenges of the future.

ITV Unions brings together the NUJ, AEEU and BECTU and will be a cross-company organisation building on the co-operation already established in Granada, the dominant company in the ITV sector.

The new group means that all collective bargaining, consultation and representation across all ITV and associated companies will be carried out on a joint-union basis.

BECTU independent broadcasting official Sharon Elliot said "Broadcasting trade unions are gearing up to deal with the big structural changes in independent television. We are keen to broaden our efforts to encompass the whole of the ITV network".
