Vote for revised ITN pension
BECTU members have voted overwhelmingly to accept ITN's revised pension proposals.
On a high turnout, over 90% of members voted yes to accept the package that gives a retirement age of 63 and retains a 'pension in payment' cap of 5% whilst employees pay an additional 2%.
The revised proposals were as a result of a successful joint unions industrial action ballot at ITN over Christmas.
Members of the NUJ also voted yes by a similar margin and pending the results of a consultative exercise conducted by ITN, the new proposals will be implemented from 1 April 2007.
BECTU National Official Nigel Mason said today "Our members have shown strong support for the joint union's position on ITN's pension proposals and as a result have achieved significant improvements.
"We believe this is reflected in the large majority of members who have have voted to accept the improved package".
