97% vote 'yes' to ITV pay deal

Members have voted overwhelmingly to accept ITV’s 2008-9 pay deal of 4.2% plus a number of improvements to terms and conditions.

In 2008, as well as the 4.2% consolidated increase on basic salaries, the deal also includes an increase of £1,000 on the redundancy pay cap, which rises to £36,000, and initiatives to encourage greater take-up of the defined contribution pension scheme offered by ITV plc.

In 2009, the increase on basic salary and consolidated allowances will be based on October 2008's RPI figure and ITV has also agreed to further discussions on pensions, redundancy payouts and improvements to local agreements.

The joint unions of the NUJ and Unite also voted to accept the offer.

The pay award will come into affect from 1 January as will changes to redundancy and the pension scheme.
