Revised Siemens deal out to ballot
Members at Siemens SIS working on BBC contracts are currently voting on a slight improvement to pay for the remainder of 2008.
The ongoing consultative ballot closes on 12 August. BECTU is recommending acceptance of the revised pay offer.
A positive industrial action ballot in July persuaded Siemens management to resume talks with BECTU; these discussions led management to improve its pay offer for September to December 2008 by 0.85%.
If accepted, the improvement would grant Siemens SIS staff a 3% pay award for the last four months of the current two-year deal.
Siemens SIS, formerly part of BBC Technology, looks after BBC broadcast technology and projects including IT, broadcast critical data and the Corporation's internet and intranet servers.
