Members of the BECTU Odeon negotiating team met the cinema chain management yesterday to further discuss the proposals.

Proposals to harmonise sound and projection conditions across the former Odeon and UCI chains, now owned by Terra Firma, have already been rejected by members twice in ballots held in May and June.

BECTU National Official David Beevers said "The meeting was positive in that the company was prepared to move on several items of concern reflected in the recent BECTU questionnaire filled out by Odeon Technicians."

Odeon management are now seeing board approval on the discussions with BECTU, following which it is anticipated that members will be re-balloted from around Wednesday 8 August.

Recently Paul Schofield, from Odeon's Technical Department, hosted a series of meetings around the country giving Odeon Technicians the opportunity to seek clarification and ask questions on the proposal.

Feedback from members suggest the exercise was well received by members but "only time will tell once the ballot is reissued and we have the result" said Beevers.
