Cineworld possible pay delay
The 2007 pay award at the Cineworld cinema chain may be delayed past its usual October deadline.
At a further meeting yesterday (18 September), following on from talks in August, representatives from BECTU and Cineworld discussed this year's pay award.
Cineworld Sub-Divisional Committee (SDC) Chair Mick Corfield said: "There was an amicable meeting between the two parties which resulted in a clear understanding of where we are both at.
"It is unlikely that there will be a ballot amongst our members yet as the offer has not been finalised.
"The negotiation team asked its members to be patient and although it is highly unlikely that this year's award will be paid on the anniversary date of October 1st the company have given an assurance that any pay award will be back dated to this date".
He was also at pains to point out that members should not be overtly concerned: "As the company have now moved to being a PLC, negotiated pay awards are not as straight forward as they used to be and we will keep our members informed when we have any more news".
