Cineworld pay offer agreed
Cineworld projection members have voted by over 85% to accept a 3.9% pay increase and a 0.5% uplift to the annual bonus.
The accepted pay offer for 2007-2008, backdated to 1 October, covers projection grades in the cinema chain's union recognition agreement.
Cineworld Sub-Divisional Committee (SDC) Chair Mick Corfield commented: "I am pleased with the result and thank our members who voted in favour for following the negotiation teams advice to accept this deal.
"When we face uncertainty about our future considering what has been happening to our fellow members in the other cinema circuits.
"I think that is only fair to publicly thank my colleagues on the team and National Official Jim Johnstone for their efforts again this year".
The settlement includes a 0.5% increase to the annual bonus, comprising the yearly total basic salary divided equally.
Corfield continued "We have given an assurance to the company that we will explore all possibilities of performance related pay for next year's pay round and two members of your SDC will be working alongside the companies management to see how this might be achieved.
"Ultimately though, as ever, it will be up to the members to decide whether to accept these changes to the way the pay negations are formulated going forward.
"Once again, and not wishing to sound like an old record, we could not achieve these results on behalf of you all without your continued support.
"Your SDC has thrived and BECTU membership in projection has been a constant high over the last few years".
