A panel of experts is being brought together by BECTU to discuss changes in film regulations.

At an open event organised by the union's Writers', Producers', and Directors' Branch, a team of specialists will examine the implications of a new tax regime for the industry, and the proposed legal definition of a "British" film.

Supported by BAFTA and the BEC Centre for Creative Business, the event is intended to bring industry workers up to speed on the new rules, as well as providing networking opportunities.

It begins at 7pm on Tuesday December 13 in the theatre at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, 195 Piccadilly, London, and takes place as the government deliberates on industry stakeholders' views on changes to the tax and legal regime for the industry.

Members and non-members are both welcome to attend, and the mix of experts on the panel, representing a broad range of views across the industry, promises some lively debate.

Speakers include Simon Relph, author of an uncompromising report about the UK film industry, Sandy Lieberson, Chair of Film London, and BECTU AGS Martin Spence.
