BBC freelance mass meetings

A series of meetings are being held for all freelancers who work for the BBC to discuss future rates.

This follows reports that the BBC is considering imposing a new freelance ratecard with significant pay cuts.

The first, for London and the South East, will be in the Large Hall at Friends Meeting House, 173 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ on Thursday 22 June 2006.

Access is from 1900, with the meeting starting at 2000.

This will be followed by meetings in three major centres outside London:

• Bristol - 1930 Thursday 6 July 2006: Arnos Manor Hotel, 470 Bath Road, Bristol BS4 3HQ (next to ITV West Studios)
• Manchester - 1930 Thursday 13 July 2006: Mechanics Centre, 103 Princess St, Manchester, M1 6DD
• Birmingham - 2000 Monday 17 July 2006: Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre, Pinsent Masons Room, Hurst Street, Birmingham (please use the Thorp Street Entrance)

BECTU is urging all freelances who work for the BBC to attend, whether or not they are union members, and to spread the word among friends and colleagues.
