Directors' campaign continues

The campaign to win copyright rewards for Directors continues with a major meeting planned for 26 October in Central London.

BECTU is working with the Directors Guild of Great Britain (DGGB) and Directors & Producers Rights Society (DPRS) to win proper rewards for Directors, both in terms of their basic fees and of their right to a share of revenues from repeats and onward sales of their work. Copyright law now clearly recognises Directors as "authors", which means there is now crucial statutory support for the case.

BECTU still has an agreement with the BBC in this area, and the BBC is to be applauded for its continued recognition of Directors' rights.

BECTU, DGGB and DPRS are now working together on claims to be put to PACT and the ITV companies.
