1999 Bournemouth Conference

Bournemouth will be the venue for BECTU's 1999 Annual and Rules Revision Conference.

The 1998 conference will be held at the Bournemouth International Centre, on the UK south coast, 11 to 13 June 1999.

Branch delegates from all parts of the union will be attending the conference, which will be the first opportunity in three years to propose changes to the BECTU Rule Book.

The union's National Executive Committee (NEC) report to conference will also be debated, as well as motions tabled by the union's Branches.

The conference Standing Orders Committee is currently discussing the detail of conference arrangements.

The Standing Orders Committee has issued the following circular to BECTU Branches and members: "It may seem a long way off, but now is the time to start to think about how you and your Branch can make a positive contribution to shaping your union for the new millennium. Make sure your Branch has arranged meetings in time to draw up and submit both policy motions and proposed rule changes, and to select delegates to represent the Branch at conference itself."
