1999-2000 Trustee vacancy

BECTU Branches are invited to nominate members for the office of BECTU Trustee.

There was only one nomination for the two Trustee positions at BECTU's 1999 Annual Conference and there therefore remains a vacancy for a Trustee.

The duties of Trustee fill an important legal obligation for the union. Trade unions, for example, are not allowed to own property in their own name - property must be registered in the name of the Trustees of the union.

A Trustee must be a paid-up BECTU member with at least five years membership of the union and cannot be a member of the National Executive Committee or an employee of the union - further details are given in BECTU Rule 3.

Nominations must be made in writing by an authorised Branch officer, identifying the candidate in full and stating his/her BECTU membership number, and affirming that he/she is will and eligible to be nominated under rule.

All nominations must be received by BECTU General Secretary Roger Bolton at BECTU Head Office no later than 1200 on Friday 24 September 1999.
