New 2000-2002 NEC

The results from ballots in two Divisions have been announced leading to the formation of a new BECTU NEC.

The outcome of elections for BECTU's NEC (National Executive Committee) were declared at the close of the union's Annual Conference recently held in Manchester over the weekend.

The ballots were held because the number of candidates nominated exceeded the number of places available in two of the six union Divisions. The successful candidates for the Arts & Entertainment Division were Sean Barker, Turlough McDaid and Pete Martin; and for the London Production Division: Jack Amos, Helene Bevan, Tudor Gates, John Sealey.

The new NEC which meets for the first time on 21 May therefore comprises:

  • Arts & Entertainment: Sean Barker, Turlough McDaid, Pete Martin
  • BBC: Pete Harding, Tony Lennon, Andy Love, Tony Scott
  • Independent Broadcasting: Jack McNairn, [vacancy]
  • Laboratories: Gino Najera
  • London Production: Jack Amos, Helene Bevan, Tudor Gates, John Sealey
  • Regional Production: Lynn Lloyd, Margaret Watts
Branches in the Independent Broadcasting Division are being now being invited to submit nominations in a by-election to fill the vacancy on the NEC caused by insufficient nominations from that Division being made in March.
