Labs, LPD and RPD AGS election

An Assistant General Secretary election is to be held in the Laboratories, London Production and Regional Production Divisions.

The election is being held as current AGS Martin Spence's five-year term of office ends this coming January. He is eligible for re-election.

In June this year members in the Arts & Entertainment, BBC and Independent Broadcasting Divisions elected Luke Crawley as AGS to replace Gerry Morrissey, who had become General Secretary in April.

Branches in the Laboratories, London Production and Regional Production Divisions are being invited to make nominations.

Candidates can be members or employees of the union, and each requires:

  • Nomination by at least ten Branches, or
  • Nomination by Branches with a combined membership of at least 1,000

Branches have to convene meetings of members to agree a nomination, but if the meeting is, or will inevitably be, inquorate, the Branch Committee can act in the name of the Branch.

Nominations must be made on the form distributed to Branch Secretaries.

If the election is contested, there will be a postal ballot of members in the Laboratories, London Production and Regional Production Divisions, closing on 6 December 2007.
