Luke Crawley has been elected BECTU's new Assistant General Secretary in a members' ballot.

Luke Crawley received 2263 votes, whilst 1629 were cast for the other candidate, Willy Donaghy.

"Now that the elections are over we need to get on with the job of supporting the members and building BECTU into a stronger union in the BBC, Arts and Entertainment and Independent Broadcasting."

Luke Crawley began work for the BBC in 1982, and was active at Branch, News & Current Affairs Sub-Divisional, and BBC Divisional levels, as well as the NEC, before joining BECTU as a full-time National Official in 1993.
