BBC Scotland freelance ballot

Members are voting on the first proposed agreement with BBC Scotland covering freelancers and casuals.

The proposals include:

  • Minimum rate card.
  • Equal treatment between freelances and permanent staff on daily expenses and overnights.
  • Overtime payments to apply to all freelances.
  • Working hours to be scheduled in line with permanent staff.

The proposals are the result of BECTU gaining recognition for freelancers working for BBC Scotland late last year.

The union is currently running a petition for freelance recognition across the rest of the BBC.

If there are any freelance members anywhere in the UK who have worked, or are working for BBC Scotland, and have not yet received a ballot paper they should contact the Scottish Office through Anne Haughan [email protected] or on 0141 314 0060.

The ballot closes 1200 on Monday 7 August 2006.
