New NEC IB member

Ian Williams is the new Independent Broadcasting BECTU NEC member following a by-election.

Branches in the Independent Broadcasting Division were invited, on 10 May 2000, to nominate candidates to fill a vacancy on the 2000-2002 NEC (National Executive Committee) to represent that Division.

The vacancy existed because only one candidate had been nominated to fill two places available to the Division in the NEC elections held in March 2000.

Nominations in the by-election closed on 23 June 2000. Only one nomination was received, that of Ian Williams, made by the Carlton TV Nottingham Branch.

The other Independent Broadcasting representative on the NEC is Jack McNairn from Scottish Television.
